the sun
I raised my eyes against the morning flame,
Where gold and fire whispered out my name.
The sky unfolded like a sacred sea,
A masterpiece too bright for me to see.
Its beauty called with silent, burning grace,
A warm embrace I could not help but chase.
Yet every heartbeat paid a hidden price.
The light gave wonder, then demanded sacrifice.
My eyes filled not with tears alone, but fire,
A trembling ache wrapped deep in my desire.
How strange that something gentle from afar
Could leave such scars beneath its shining star.
I looked away, yet still it filled my mind,
Its brilliance etched where darkness used to hide.
For beauty is not always soft or kind.
Sometimes it wounds before it heals the blind.
The sun remained, untouched by all my pain,
While I stood changed beneath its golden reign.
And in that moment, I came to understand,
Some things are far too beautiful to hold in human hands.
